When the mould is developed, a casting simulation is always performed first before the mould is actually made. This involves simulating the casting process with a special computer program based on a 3D file for the product and mould.
Below, an example is displayed of a simulation of a gravity die casting mould. During the process, the flow inside the mould is checked and the solidification process is clearly visible. This makes it possible to check the de-aeration of the mould in advance and detect any trapped air or excessive shrinkage. If necessary, the mould design can be adjusted accordingly.
